Need help with the cost of attending a conference? PsyPAG might be able to help.
Our conference bursaries are structured to enable us to award good size bursaries to as many people as possible. There are three types of award:
Our approach is to give top-up money to lots of people rather than a small number of large bursaries to a select few. There are two rounds of applications each year for both the International Awards and the Domestic Awards, closing on 10th May and 10th October and applications may be made retrospectively.
For the PsyPAG Annual Conference Awards, there is a single deadline, usually around mid June.
Some brief notes
It is your responsibility to check whether the details in your application are correct. Any incorrect details may harm your chances of being awarded a bursary. This particularly applies to your address to which correspondence will be directed.
Abstracts must be included as part of the application document. You will not receive a reminder but it will not be sent to the decision makers. Please do not reference yourself in abstracts, or when listing conference attendance and presentations. Excessive referencing may make your application invalid.
In order to be eligible to apply, you must be registered at a UK institution. Conferences in England and Ireland are considered to be domestic conferences. If you are a distance learning student in another country, you will still only be able to apply for a domestic bursary if the conference is located in the UK and Ireland
We cannot accept applications from those awaiting registration. If you are planning to attend a conference just after registration, you should consider applying for the next round retrospectively.
Similarly, we cannot normally accept applications from those who are no longer registered on a postgraduate course. This includes those who are now in employment but have not yet submitted. If you are unsure of how this affects you, please contact the Information Officer with details of your circumstances.
Please note that the bursary scheme is currently being reviewed in order to cope with popular demand. We hope to have more information in the coming weeks. The next bursary round deadline is 10 October 2008 and we hope to inform you of how to apply through the new system soon. You will still be able to apply retrospectively for any conferences you are attending in the mean time.
Please bear with us while we make these changes which we hope will increase the speed and effectiveness of the scheme. Your patience is appreciated.
