Psychotherapy Section

Kate Doran

I’m a PhD student in the University of Sheffield’s Centre for Psychological Services Research. Using mixed qualitative methods, my research aims to develop an understanding of service users’ perceptions and experiences of the processes by which supported use of a named computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme (Beating the Blues) may facilitate or hinder therapeutic psychological change.

I was co-opted as PsyPAG representative to the Psychotherapy Section in November 2010, and elected to the position in July 2011. I meet regularly with the Psychotherapy Section Committee to represent the interests of postgraduate students and to advise them of any issues affecting postgraduate students within the field of psychotherapy.

Section information can be found on the website where upcoming events, conferences and news items are posted. Additional resources are available to members, including access to the Psychotherapy Section Review (published twice a year) and to the Psychotherapy Section Announcement E-mail list. Student membership of the Section – which also offers discounts at Psychotherapy Section events and annual conferences -  costs £7.50 per annum. Details of how to join can be found here. Details of the 2012 Annual Training Conference may be found here.

If you have anything you would like me to make the Section aware of, suggestions for anything, or if you would like any further information, please contact me at: k.doran@shef.ac.uk
