Marie Dunnion
I am currently in the final year of my PhD at Worcester Business School. Prior to embarking on this long-term research project, I worked in various work settings which gave me an appetite for studying workplace behaviours, and researching to improve organisational ethics.
My PhD crosses over into the area of occupational psychology in its investigation of the relatively new concept of false performance. False performers are those individuals within the workplace who seek to improve their perceived performance at the expense of their actual performance. They deliberately portray themselves as being better able to perform in a job role than they know themselves to be capable of!
As Sexualities Section representative, I am committed to keeping up-to-date with issues which affect the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender/transsexual (LGBT) community. I look forward to learning more about psychology-related work which is relevant to LGBT issues, and I will be taking action to promote non-heterosexist and gender-inclusive forms of study, research, theory, and practice in British Psychology.
