Alexander Griffiths-Moros
I am currently reading my PhD at the University of St Andrews examining how social identification (and more specifically religious and spiritual identification) and retrieval processes in memory, impact our formation of religious and political beliefs.
Previously, I had obtained an MA (Honours) in Psychology and Theology from the
University of St Andrews in 2009, and then went up to the University of Cambridge in 2009-2010 to read an MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology specialising in the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality which I obtained in July 2010 for a thesis entitled “God the Father”: Religious Coping to Compensate for Primary Attachment Figures during Childhood Crises. During my MA I examined practical applications of Theology and how they can be used to resolve political and religious upheaval, and during my MPhil at Cambridge I examined the psychological role of spirituality and religiosity within people’s lives as part of the wider Psychology and Religion Group at the University of Cambridge, working alongside Dr Fraser Watts and Dr Nicholas Gibson.
I believe that I am well-suited to represent postgraduate issues to the committee of the Transpersonal Section due to my extensive education and research background in Transpersonal Psychology, the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality, and Theological Studies. I understand the issues surrounding research in these areas, and also wish to facilitate and engage postgraduate researchers in collaboration and discussion.
