Hi! I’m Kalli Shreves and I’m a part time PhD student and PGTA at Loughborough University. My PhD research examines the way that exercise behaviours and attitudes in adolescence are influenced by sociocultural factors. I am particularly interested in the way in which peers, family and social media impact negative body image and maladaptive exercise behaviours at this age, such as compulsive exercise.
My journey in psychology has been far from conventional. After completing my BSc (Hons) in Counselling Psychology, I took a different path and became a primary school teacher for four years. I developed a strong interest in child development in this role and soon found myself back in academia, completing my MSc in Applied Developmental Psychology.
I am delighted to be the PsyPAG representative for the East Midlands. If you have any thoughts, comments or questions, please feel free to contact me at K.A.Shreves@lboro.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can tweet me and follow my PhD journey @KalliShreves
