Oliver Clark

Hello! I’m Oli – a PhD researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University.  I am studying the effects of video game avatar appearance on exercise motivations.  I previously studied at the University of Hull between 2004-2009 where I completed an Undergraduate in Psychology, and an MRes in Research Methods in Psychology.

Aside from videogames, body image, appearance related stereotypes, and health persuasion, I am also a recent convert to mathematical and statistical methods in psychology.  I enjoy (yes, I know) finding ways to model my studies using random number generation before running my studies, and totally subscribe to the idea that ‘if you know how to simulate your data, you know how to analyse it’.

I look forward to representing the Mathematical, Statistical, and Computing Psychology Section over the coming years.  Please do get in contact if you have any questions, or want guidance about how develop coding skills!
