Social Networking

PsyPAG have now made over 2,000 tweets, and have over 1,110 followers. Thank you to everyone. If you’d like to follow PsyPAG on twitter look up @psypag.

PsyPAG Outstanding Doctoral Supervisor Award

Each year PsyPAG awards an outstanding doctoral supervisor award. The winner of the award this year is Dr Stephen Butler (School of Psychological Sciences and Health, University of Strathclyde). His postgraduate student Mel Kendrick and his colleague Dr Lisa Woolfson nominated Dr Butler. Congratulations.

Forum Competition

PsyPAG awarded forum competition winners Fleur-Michelle and Jacqui with 20 pounds Amazon Voucher, and two runners up, Bex and Michael, with a 5 pounds voucher. The forum competition was set up when the PsyPAG forum was launched (see www.psypag.co.uk/forumpress to view their entries and to participate in the forum). Congratulations to the winners of the vouchers and many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the forum so far.

Annual Conference

The annual PsyPAG conference was held at Bangor University (6th – 8th July 2011). The conference was a great event with a lot of innovative and interesting research presented, great networking opportunities and a lot of fun and socialising. The abstracts for presentations can be viewed online at the PsyPAG website. PsyPAG are now organising the 2012 conference will be held at Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne (18th – 20th July).

Conference Travel Bursaries

PsyPAG awarded several conference bursaries to delegates at the annual PsyPAG conference. In addition the North East Branch of the British Psychological Society awarded two bursaries to conference delegates from North East England institutions.

PsyPAG Day Conference

On Friday the 3rd June 2011 a day conference was held at Bath University, titled “Opening the Multiplicity of Possibilities: Practicing Alternative Approaches to Research”. The day was very successful.

Current Issue of the Quarterly Published

The current issue of The Quarterly has been published. A PDF file of the current issue can be downloaded from the PsyPAG website (www.psypag.co.uk/current-issue). There is also information on the website about you can contribute to the Quarterly.

Previous Achievements

Bursaries Awarded

PsyPAG have awarded four international conference bursaries, three domestic conference bursaries, and one travel bursary. Congratulations to all of the successful applicants. Awards

Each year PsyPAG awards a masters award and a teaching award. PsyPAG awarded the Masters Award for this year to Niall Lally, from the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL.

With Postgraduates who Teach (PGwT) the Psychology Postgraduate Teaching Award has been awarded to Yosef Gavriel Ansara from the University of Surrey.

Congratulations to both winners.

Psychology of Women Workshop

The psychology of Women PsyPAG representative Helen Owton helped organise a narrative analysis workshop in February 2011.
