Hello, I’m Rose Lobban and I’m the PsyPAG Representative for the BPS Psychology of Women Section (POWS). I have a Graduate Conversion Diploma in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods from the University of Winchester. Before gaining those, I spent a number of years working in TV and in education. I’m currently studying for a PhD at the University of Greenwich. My research tends to focus on the social psychology of genders and sexualities, and in particular on applying critical and discursive theory and methodologies to explore these areas. In this vein, my present research involves reinterpreting the social cognition concept of microaggressions from a social constructionist perspective to explore how gender relations and heterosexism are co-constructed in and through language. I’m also interested in interdisciplinary perspectives on gender and have co-organised conferences and co-edited a special edition of the Journal of Gender Studies in this area.
If you would like to know more about POWS or have any questions or suggestions for us, I’d love to hear from you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or find me on Twitter @rosemary_lobban.
