Rose Turner

Hi, I’m Rose, and I’m a PhD student at Kingston University London, where I use quantitative methods to study relationships between narrative-engagement and social cognitive processes, particularly processes related to empathy.

My background is in the performing arts (Lancaster University and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), and I completed my Psychology degree (conversion for postgraduates) via the Open University while working as an actor and applied theatre practitioner. Alongside my PhD research I currently teach (Research Methods and Statistics) and continue to work with several organisations using arts-based initiatives in education, criminal justice, medicine and social care settings.

I’m passionate about ensuring people have their best possible experience of postgraduate Psychology. As the London and Home Counties representative, I am keen to support students to access the networking opportunities, funding and awards available to them, and to promote a connected and inspired community of postgraduate psychologists. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any ideas, questions or issues. You can email me at, or we can link up via twitter (I’m @theroseturner). I look forward to hearing from you!
