Hello! I’m Veronica, an ESRC DTP PhD student based at Bangor University, Wales.
I am intrigued by the complexity of the human brain and the ability of the neuronal microscopic cells to coordinate in such harmony that intricate behaviours and mental processes are generated. I am particularly fascinated by our ability to use stored knowledge about the world to generate context-appropriate behaviours (i.e. semantic cognition). In my PhD, I employ cognitive neuroscience techniques to investigate how the human brain regulates the processing of social information, allowing the generation of what is arguably the most complex meaning-driven behaviour, namely social behaviour.
