Veronica Diveica

Hello! I’m Veronica, an ESRC DTP PhD student based at Bangor University, Wales.

I am intrigued by the complexity of the human brain and the ability of the neuronal microscopic cells to coordinate in such harmony that intricate behaviours and mental processes are generated. I am particularly fascinated by our ability to use stored knowledge about the world to generate context-appropriate behaviours (i.e. semantic cognition). In my PhD, I employ cognitive neuroscience techniques to investigate how the human brain regulates the processing of social information, allowing the generation of what is arguably the most complex meaning-driven behaviour, namely social behaviour.

I am very excited to represent postgraduate students in the BPS Welsh Branch and, in this role, I hope to:

  • aid communication with and between postgraduates in Wales;
  • support postgraduates in Wales to access relevant opportunities, including networking and training opportunities;
  • promote a healthy postgraduate environment with plenty of social support networks and proper self-care education to combat the potential feelings of isolation that can arise during postgraduate study, especially when living in a place with widespread rural areas such as Wales.

For any suggestions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at psuda2@bangor.ac.uk or twitter @DiveicaV. I look forward to hearing from as many of you as possible!
